Atcom Systems is an Alberta Corporation owned by Bill and John Attwood. John began in business in Vernon, B.C. in 1985, where he developed the largest independent burglar alarm company in the area, catering to the discriminating residential customer by focusing on outstanding quality. One result achieved through this commitment was that he had the lowest false alarm rate in the North Okanagan. Some of our commercial customers asked us to also look after their telephone systems, and so a new division began in 1989.
John sold that operation, and moved back to the Calgary area at the end of 1998, keeping the southern Alberta customers we had served over the years, from Lethbridge to Calgary. After providing sales, technical, and consulting services to other interconnects, including spending a year as the Telecom Service Manager for Toshiba Business Systems, John began servicing his own customer base full time again in 2002.
Bill worked for John back in the Vernon days and continued to work for the alarm company after it was bought out. He also moved to Calgary in 2003 and worked at Prime Communications for nearly six years as a Nortel technician. He gained invaluable experience on various Nortel products including MICS, CICS, BCM 50/200/400/450, Call Pilot, and Meridian (SL1/M1/CS1000E/Option 11/Option 61/Option 81). In July of 2009, Bill purchased half of Atcom Systems and joined the company as lead technician while John moved into a sales role.
Atcom Systems has grown by word of mouth and reached the point that we could no longer handle the work load alone. We have now begun to employ additional technicians, as well as developing synergistic relationships with other interconnect companies.
We have carried the same commitment into the communications industry as we always had as a burglar alarm company, namely to give honest appraisals of client needs, whether that means advising that you need a much larger package than anticipated or a much smaller package. We are here to give you the best value by providing exactly the right product and service to you, to meet your needs, not ours, and we will not recommend a system that doesn’t meet your needs just to get the sale.
At Atcom Systems, we don’t force you to buy our particular product. We analyze your needs and if we don’t carry the system that’s best for you, we partner with another dealer to make sure the end product will meet your unique needs at the lowest cost possible.
